Timslaw.ca Adds Language Translator

The purpose of Tim’s Law is to raise awareness of deficiency in our legal system, which has allowed killers like Vincent Li, the perpetrator of the horrendous murder of Tim McLean, to freely mingle with an unsuspecting public. We have added a language translator to timslaw.ca to further engage and foster a dialogue inclusive of the varying attitudes and opinions,

Proponents of Tim’s Law hope not only to raise awareness of the inadequacy in Canada’s “Not Criminally Responsible” policy, but to also effect meaningful change that will prevent the possibility of repeat offences by NCR perpetrators.

While this translator feature may not offer the perfect solution, our hope is that people may overlook the inherent limitations these translators provide, and see the greater good and awareness that timslaw.ca seeks to promote. Timslaw.ca is endeavouring to provide an inclusive forum crossing both the cultural and opinionated spectrum present in Canadian society.

Criminal responsibility, to me, infers committing an act intended to harm someone’s person or property while fully comprehending that that act is morally or legally wrong. Someone who is insane cannot rationally form such an intent. That said, there is a fundamental responsibility on our legal and medical communities to protect society from person’s who are or might be a danger to society due to illness of any form. We quarentine people who carry infectious diseases, we prohibit epileptics having a driver’s license, and we should equally restrict or confine persons who are a danger to society due to mental incapacity. If they cannot control their impulses and/or actions, then they must be controlled, and it should be the mandate of our health system to do it.

I just watched Tim’s mother interviewed on Canada AM and my heart goes out to her and all of Tim’s family and friends as it did last year at the time of this horrendous violation of Tim’s life.
I must say I am one that Tim’s mother referred to that did NOT understand “NCR”. For someone “Not Criminally Responsible” to not hold a record after such a horrible act is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE!! Yet, if a person were to steal something in a store, as Tim’s mother said, this would stay on the person’s record for life. There is no balance here!
Her point should be well taken by those with authority to make changes that if NCR allows these people back into society with no record, they could end up caring for the young, the sick or elderly.
I ditto everything said by an M.G.Young in March. I am an epileptic and there is a law in place to say I cannot drive. I accept that. But our legal and health systems need to step up to the plate and make changes to protect the innocent with the NCR!
I am so tired of hearing of the rights of those that break the law. In my mind, the minute you break the law (especially in such a horrendous way), you are giving up your rights to be protected. If the law has been broken due to a mental health issue, it goes right back to the fact that this person must be controlled to protect the innocent!!!

I read the article in ’24H’ [re. 'Vince Li could be free in five years, doctor says'], and am horrified by this murderer being let out on the street ever again. It doesn’t matter if he has mental problems. He still killed someone. If a wild animal kills someone, they hunt it down and shoot it, they don’t say it was a grizzly bear so tough luck.
